Mission

We build healthy minds and create

positive lives in our diverse community
by raising awareness and breaking through
 cultural barriers to emotional wellness.

Following the 3/11/2011 North Eastern Region Pacific Ocean Earthquake Disaster, the local professionals from Los Angeles area working in the field of mental health and other helping professions came together to form “CARE,” California Alliance for Relief and Empowerment. The membership has been growing and we have active members seeking ways to support our local diverse communities. We have since changed our name to “Kokoro Wellness Network” to better reflect our mission and began applying for an NPO (Non-Profit Organization) status. “Kokoro” in Japanese means “heart and soul” and is a holistic aspect of a person beyond mental health. The core members of Kokoro Wellness Network (KWN) have been working generously to launch free programs and supportive services in the community at this critical time. Already in the first few months of our inception, we have offered 4 free seminars with the topics surrounding how to promote people’s (kokoro) wellbeing. The seminars have been well attended both by the general public affected by the disaster here in Los Angeles proximity and by those interested in supporting people who were affected. Kokoro Wellness Network (KWN) will continue to offer support to our local communities and expand our effort in Japan through education, training, linkages, and direct services.
